Sniffing for a good time? University District is ready to welcome neighbours, friends and families to its new urban dog park with a dog-friendly community event, Tails & Treasures. On July 15, dog owners and lovers can help celebrate the new dog park in true U/D style with fun, food, music, art and performances for all ages. The feel-good event is sure to delight with activities across 1/4-acre dedicated dog park nestled within a spectacular two-acre multi-purpose park space. Calgarians are encouraged to partake in the treasure map experience, with five dog-inspired destinations that features: – Canine photobooth with Fotomoji – Coffee and drink station from Heritage Coffee Roasting Co. – Delicious local street food from Lil Truck on the Prairie – Cotton candy cart from Sugar Cube – Popsicle cart and lemonade from Family Freezed – K9 caricatures by famed local artist, Mandy Stobo – Dog store pop-up with Fairplay Pet Supply – Pacific Assistance Dogs Society (PADS) Guests can drop their maps off after visiting all five destinations and be entered to win a $500 (approximate value) prize from Fairplay Pet Supply, a local business located in the nearby community of Parkdale. Attendees are also encouraged to learn more about PADS, a non-profit organization that breeds, raises, trains and supports certified assistance dogs, matching them with people living with disabilities, and with community care professionals. Everyone of all ages from across the city are invited to come together for a day of dog-inspired activities, a perfect Sunday to meet neighbours and furry-friends. . What: Tails & Treasures When: July 15,2018 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Where: North Pond, University District Corner of Shaganappi Trail and 32 Ave NW Free parking is available at the University District Discovery Centre, 4410 University Ave NW. Pups on Parade Between 1-2 p.m., guests can register their dogs for the “Best of Show” contest with categories for biggest dog, cutest dog, best dressed and best trick. At 2:30 p.m., attendees can bring paws and applause as pooches gather to soak in the glory and make their owners proud. A selection of judges will award the winners with $100 (approximate value) puppy prize packs from AtomicDog Boutique. Pupparazzi Photo Contest Short-haired to shaggy, tiny to mighty, frisky to fetching — Calgarians can post the best photos and videos of their pooches on social media, tag a friend, and use hashtag #UDCalgaryTails to win a fantastic $300 (approximate value) prize pack from Doodle Dogs. Contest ends July 31.
