At 5 1/2 years old, Evelyn is hosting a Lemonade Stand at her School’s Community Garage Sale that features colour-changing lemonade. The effect is achieved through Blue Pea Flower Tea which acts as a natural pH indicator. When added as ice to an acidic liquid like Lemonade the dark blue iced tea cubes turn the lemonade pink as they melt creating a cool ombre effect. Evelyn wants to be a Marine Biologist when she grows up she has chosen to donate the proceeds of her lemonade stand to Science World’s Scientists & Innovators in the Schools (SIS) Program that brings working scientists into classrooms to teach kids about STEAM careers. Her lemonade will be served in a lab coat and safety goggles and will come in both the pink and yellow variety. The stand will feature a demonstration of how Blue Pea Flower Tea reacts in different acidity levels as well as a photo wall to snap a selfie with your ombre concoction.
