Southern Ontario tribute band The Artificially Hip to host Hamilton fundraiser concert to support the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research.
The Artificially Hip, a band with members from across Central Southern Ontario will host their latest in a series of fundraising concerts at the Royal Canadian Legion at 435 Limeridge Rd E in Hamilton June 24th beginning at 8PM. Tickets are $20.
The performance, described as “a loving tribute to the music of Gord Downie and the Tragically Hip” will be brought to Hamilton for the first time, with net proceeds going to the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research. Working in conjunction with the Sunnybrook Foundation, The Artificially Hip are able to donate directly to research supporting the search for the cure for Gioblastoma – the cancer variant that took Gord Downie from all Canadians far too soon, and other specific brain cancers.
Formed in 2017, The Artificially Hip was a convergence of 5 sincere fans of the music, performances, and career of Canada’s most beloved band The Tragically Hip. The band was deeply saddened by the unfortunate loss of Gord Downie to Gioblastoma, and have dedicated some portion of all their performances to the fight against Brain Cancer, and are targeting 4-5 larger fundraising events throughout the calendar year with earlier events in Cambridge and Plattsville already in 2018.
Bassist Simon McIntyre said on behalf of the band “it is our absolute privilege to perform this immense catalog of music for people across Southern Ontario, and it is important to us to play at the highest level each and every time. That was the bar set by the Tragically Hip, and it is our obligation to represent their music with as much passion and skill as we can.”
Tickets to support this fundraising performance are available at the Royal Canadian Legion on Limeridge Rd, or online at https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/yer-favourites-live-in-the-hammer-tickets-43254231571?aff=efbevent
