Celebrate Canada Water Week and UN World Water Day with the Okanagan Basin Water Board (OBWB) and Okanagan WaterWise! We invite you to “SHARED WATERS. SHARED CONVERSATIONS…Keeping the Okanagan River flowing,” a FREE, fun and informative movie night! Seating is limited. Please register at: https://okwaterwise-cww2018.eventbrite.ca/ The evening begins with a special welcome and opening by syilx (Okanagan) Nation’s KRYSTAL LEZARD. This is followed by a screening of “A River Film,” an award-winning documentary that profiles our Okanagan/Okanogan rivershed, a transboundary waterway that straddles the Canada-U.S. border. Then join us for a Q&A with some of those featured in the film, including: – ANNA WARWICK SEARS, OBWB Exec. Dir. and member of the International Joint Commission’s International Osoyoos Lake Board of Control – DAWN MICHAN, Okanagan Nation Alliance Fisheries Biologist – SHAUN REIMER, B.C. Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development, Section Head of Public Safety & Protection (Okanagan Lake level management) – JOHN WAGNER, UBC Okanagan Associate Professor of Anthropology (agriculture, food security, Columbia River Treaty) Following the Q&A, visit with local organizations who will have displays, showcasing the work they are doing to protect the waters of the Okanagan. Light refreshments will also be served. DOORS OPEN 6 PM.
