Cancer Assistance Program strives to raise funds and provide free services in the face of rising cancer rates

HAMILTON, ONTARIO — October 19, 2017 – “An Evening of Caring” is the theme for the Cancer Assistance Program’s (CAP) 16th Annual Gala. The signature event aims to raise the much-needed funds to continue to provide free services to those affected by cancer in the Hamilton and surrounding communities. According to the Cancer Quality Council of Ontario, over 10, 000 people within the Greater Hamilton Area are projected to be diagnosed with cancer in 2017, and more than 88, 000 in all of Ontario. These numbers suggest there will be an increase in the need for services provided by CAP in 2017. CAP’s new Executive Director, Debbie Logel Butler notes, ‘We have already seen evidence of an increased need for our services. In 2016, CAP offered services to over 3,200 people living with cancer, and more than 1,400 were new clients. That’s a 19% increase in new clients and an overall increase of 21% in total clients served in 2015.” To keep up with the growing need, CAP’s annual gala on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Michelangelo Banquet Centre will feature dinner, dancing, and a live auction, with many fun and exciting ways to win and donate.

Tickets for the event are $75.00 with sponsorship opportunities still available. For more information please visit https://cancerassist.ca/calendar/
