Free Oral Cancer Screening Clinic for the Community The Surrey Newton Rotary Club in partnership with Dr. Dhanju and the Dental Team affiliated with UBC Pacific Oral Health Society are providing a free community oral cancer prevention and screening clinic. Event summary: The goal of the clinic is to help reduce the barriers to oral cancer screening and support the prevention and early detection or oral cancer and pre-cancer. Last year, this event had been a great success as over 260 people pre-registered for the clinic and over 200 patients were examined by the dental team. The data collected by the Pacific Oral Health Society (POHS), indicated that 20 people were found to be at high risk of having oral cancer and 5 cases showed positive signs for oral cancer. Our hope is to reach more people this year, and help save as many lives as we can with early detection.
