2017 Canada Summer Games

Winnipeg is the largest city to host the Canada Games, this country’s largest multi-sport event for young athletes, and since they’re here just in time to celebrate 50 years of the Canada Games! It’s sure to be The Hottest Summer in Half a Century with 16 sports to watch, 250 events, and a major cultural festival. The “We Are Canada!” Opening Ceremony, presented by James Richardson & Sons, Limited on July 28 at Bell MTS Place will feature hundreds of Manitoban performers and musical headliners Serena Ryder, Coeur de Pirate and The Bros. Landreth. The ceremony will also include sports celebrities and Canada Games alumni. The Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Canada Games Festival is free, family-friendly and runs from July 29 to August 13 at The Forks. It will showcase over 150 Canadian artists from across the country along with Indigenous, francophone and cultural content from across Canada. The Closing Ceremony, presented by Investors Group, will be a “Grand Summer Party” held on August 13 at Investors Group Field to celebrate the athletes and bring the Games to a close with Fred Penner, Sierra Noble, and Brett Kissel.
