Lake Ontario Waterkeeper’s vision for a swimmable, drinkable, fishable Lake Ontario began from the shores of Kingston and Wolfe Island. To celebrate the place where it started and the people who made it happen, Waterkeeper is hosting the first Kingston & Wolfe Island Culture Festival – a celebration of Great Lakes voices told through story and song.
The 7 week lo
ng festival, opening with the Wolfe Island Festival of the Arts (June 23 – 24) and closing with the Wo
lfe Island Music Festival (August 11 – 12), will showcase how Kingston & Wolfe Island exemplify all that the Great Lakes can provide in a swimmable, drinkable, fishable future.
The themes of each week between June 23 – August 12 will explore the history, art, science, and natural landscape of the area to inspire new connections with water. By the end of the seven weeks residents and visitors alike will not only experience a greater connection to the shores of Lake Ontario from Kingston and Wolfe Island, but to all of our Great Lakes and connecting us in our shared water culture.
