Festival City Winds (Adult Concert Bands), under the direction of Artistic Director Wendy Grasdahl, invites you to experience an evening of musical Post Cards taking place on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 7:30PM in the Robert Tegler Centre, Concordia University of Edmonton (7128 Ada Boulevard – 73 St. south of 112 Ave.). The evening concert will feature all four Festival City Winds’ concert bands — Novice Band; Intermediate 2 Band; Intermediate 1 Band; Advanced Band — each performing their own selections. The bands will be conducted by Wendy J. Grasdahl and Dr. Eila Peterson. There will be a reception following the concert as well as door prizes. The evening’s program will transport the listener around the world with a variety of musical post cards. Listeners will be taken to England with “The Earl of Oxford’s March” and “Three London Miniatures” (which includes an expressive, lyrical tribute to the late Princess Diana); to the Spanish countryside with “Visions of Aranjuez”; to Latin America with a tango call “The Blue Orchid”; to Egypt with “Sun Cycles”; to the USA with “American Overture” and “Diamond Joe’s Riviera Club” (taking the listener inside a Chicago gangster’s private night club); to Greece with “One Night in Athens”; to Vancouver Island with “Cathedral Grove”; and out to sea with “The High Barbaree: Songs of the Sea”. Tickets for Post Cards are $12 for Adults and $5 for Children (12 and under), and can be purchased at the door.
