Each May long weekend the Meadowlark Festival presents outdoor, interactive and entertaining events aimed to get people outside, to connect them with nature, to engage them and inspire them, so that they will embrace our environment and work to protect the unique habitats and species of the Okanagan Similkameen region and indeed our planet. Events include canoe trips, guided walks, film screenings, Aboriginal cultural events, inspirational speakers, bird watching tours, back-country horseback riding, geological lectures, astronomy events, art exhibitions, photography, writing and painting workshops, children’s programming, conservation and environmental seminars and more. There’s truly something for everyone! Each event is led by an expert in their field such as a biologist, botanist, historian, geologist, naturalist, aboriginal knowledge keeper, astronomer, herpetologist, artist, etc. and the groups are kept small so people really get an up-close-and-personal, one-on-one experience.
