Hundreds of Canadians took part in the air war 1914-1918 with the Royal Flying Corps, the Royal Naval Air Service and the Royal Air Force. The new technology had obviously changed the nature of warfare, but no one knew if Canada would be involved in a major conflict in the future. In the 1920s the Canadian government had to decide if they wanted to build on the wartime foundation to create our own air force and, if so, what kind of an organization it would be. The central question – what is the air force for? Speaker Rod Mcleod, Professor Emeritus of History and Classics at the University of Alberta, will talk about how the Canadian government struggled to answer the above question in the decade of the 1920s. $8 Members, $10 Non-Members Light refreshments included!
