BC Cadet Honour Band Concert

Top Cadet Musicians to Perform Free Concerts The BC Cadet Honour Band is preparing for another free concert tour around British Columbia, performing 4 concerts from March 24 to 27 2026. The band features 51 of the top Royal Canadian Sea, Army, and Air Cadet musicians who represent 27 cadet corps & squadrons from 16 different communities from across the province. The Honour Band spends three and a half days in Victoria rehearsing their music before heading out on their concert tour. Cadets work with a team of Military and Civilian Music Instructors to quickly learn music and develop their performance and cohesion as an ensemble. The concerts are always entertaining and provide a range of musical styles from popular music to marches, and a special Pipes & Drum component. The Cadet Program is accessible to all youth aged 12-18 and provides unique experiences to participants. Its agility ensures that it remains relevant, adapting to the needs of participants while providing a program of choice to young Canadians. The experience gained through the Cadet Program provides a foundation that benefits participants in making and attaining career, education and personal goals. Cadets develop valuable life and work skills such as self-confidence, self-esteem, communication, leadership, teamwork and respect for others while having fun and building lifelong friendships. Music training fosters a sense of teamwork among cadets as they work together in preparation to perform selected pieces. Having the opportunity to perform as part of a band gives cadets a sense of accomplishment and increased confidence. Members of the Honour Band are chosen based on their cadet music proficiency level which cadets achieve through personal study, participation in free music clinics, and attendance at cadet training centres in the summer. Participation in the Honour Band is reserved for those who achieve the highest music levels; having demonstrated both high practical instrument skill, and knowledge of music theory.
