Lotus Wight is the stage name of Kawartha Lakes Ontario artist Sam Allison. He is known for his work as a performer, producer, songwriter, and festival host. His skills on banjo, upright bass, guitar, jaw-harp and bass harmonica have set him apart in the industry as an in-demand session player and he has garnered multiple nominations for his music work including JUNO, Dora Maver-Moore and Canadian Folk Music Awards both as solo artist and collaborator. He is currently up for a 2026 Folk Music award for “Stan Rogers Traditional Singer of the Year”.
Lotus plays music in the key of folk, blues, and ragtime. His songs have a vintage rural oldtime sound, and his inimitable style has been talked about in the acoustic music world for years. Audiences have been captivated by his work since his days in the duo Sheesham & Lotus, and his presents series of shows dedicated to Leon Redbone; Robert Johnson, to when he was part of the Canadian Old Timey covid collab project Adeline (as Sam Allison with Chris Coole, John Showman, Adrian Gross & Mark Kilianski).
This is one cool cat and it’s going to be a great night!
