Experience live music, tap dance, rhythm, and improvisation featuring a dynamic cast from Vancouver and Toronto! Toronto, ON – August 2025 Neo Soul Ties is the debut production by Toronto-based tap dancer Victoria Miller, featuring a powerhouse cast of tap dancers and musicians from both Vancouver and Toronto. Rooted in Black American culture, Neo Soul Ties blends tap dance and neo soul—two art forms born from jazz and improvisation. Through this vibrant fusion, Victoria celebrates the cultural legacy, joy, and deep connection between movement and music. Each performance features original choreography and live improvisation between dancers and musicians—no two shows are the same. Audiences will experience fresh interpretations of iconic tracks by neo soul legends like Erykah Badu, D’Angelo, and Jill Scott—performed like you’ve never heard them before. “My hope is to show people that tap dance is music—that it belongs in the band,” says Victoria Miller, choreographer, director, and producer. “I want audiences to fall in love with tap and see it for what it truly is: cool, evolving, and deeply musical.” Praise for previous Neo Soul Ties presentations: o “Victoria Miller is a rising force in tap dance. She’s groovy, grounded, and full of soul. Her choreography is both rhythmically rich and emotionally resonant. Don’t miss the chance to witness a fresh, powerful voice stepping boldly onto the scene.” – Travis Knights o “Victoria’s work is joyfully realized on her technically beautiful and emotionally compelling dancers. They create a wonderful kind of musical alchemy with the live instrumentalists–infectious!” – Dianne Montgomery Vancouver Fringe Festival Show Times: Friday September 5 6:45pm Saturday September 6 4:55pm Sunday September 7 7:20pm Tuesday September 9 5:00pm Friday September 12 10:00pm Sunday September 14 5:15pm
