Trees protect urban landscapes: They shade us from the sun, cool the environment, and capture carbon. But too often, new communities are built with insufficient space to plant trees and without the resources to ensure trees can grow, mature, and thrive. NL Architects’ Moving Forest is a playful installation that calls attention to the essential physical and mental health role that urban trees play. It will see a flock of 50 trees strapped in shopping carts travelling throughout the city. Stopping at Harbourfront Centre, the mobile trees will create a refreshing shade canopy, reminding us that we must prioritize green infrastructure as our city continues to warm and densify. At the end of the exhibition, the trees will be planted permanently in public spaces across the GTA. Presented by The Bentway in partnership with YZD and support from Harbourfront Centre.
