The Summerland Community Centre is delighted to present an Okanagan favourite band, Rollin’ Coal, on Friday, January 31. This entertaining trio presents a retro vibe sharing their love of classic songs from the 50’s onward. Group member Art Jacob is a very accomplished electric and upright bass player. He spent his early years in the Maritimes fine-tuning his skills and is widely known in the Okanagan. Colin Moorman has toured Western B.C. over the years, delighting crowds with his guitar and saxophone playing. Along with performing, he teaches guitar, bass and saxophone in the Kelowna area. A Kelowna musician discovered Susan Ruuska’s voice and encouraged her to pursue singing. So she did! Her vocal instructor dubbed her “a unicorn” due to her unusual singing range. Rollin’ Coal will delight you with songs that will bring back memories, and also treat you to novel versions of old favourites. They’ll have you cheering for more along with the “Rollin’ Coal Rowdies,” a group of fans that follow them everywhere! This well-loved trio has a long resume of places they’ve played, including numerous Legions, local wineries, eateries, and “Parks Alive!” events. Tickets for this show are $20, or $15 for SCCA members, and are available NOW at Artisan’s of the Okanagan. You can also reserve tickets via e-transfer to summerlandcommunitycentre@gmail.com. Show time is 7PM, Friday, Jan. 31. There will be a cash bar for wine and beer and a 50/50 draw. Hint: Don’t forget your dancing shoes
