Concordia University presents a collection of short films selected for the 2024 edition of the Etheria Film Festival, the world’s preeminent showcase for global genre cinema created by women. Etheria spotlights innovative and provocative work in genre cinema created by talented women from around the world. Each year, the festival provides a platform for emerging voices to share work that explores a variety of themes across a spectrum of horror, fantasy, science fiction, action, and dark comedy. Etheria counters ongoing industry-wide inequities by providing a supportive forum for women creators to gather in celebration of their unique visions. The event will also include an introduction by award-winning Montréal filmmaker Maude Michaud, who will be discussing her experience in the film industry and with women-centered film festivals. A screening of her most recent short film The Monster Inside My Head will precede the Etheria shorts program.
