Aerial Firefighting Talk at The Hangar - image

Aerial Firefighting is becoming a worldwide industry. From the days of the first air tanker to current-day fleets of dedicated aircraft, firefighters are taking to the air more than ever. This presentation will explain why forest fires can be a considerable threat, what firefighting aircraft look like today (such as the CL-215Ts, known for their amphibious capabilities), and how they are utilized to fight forest fires. Get a pilot’s view from the cockpit of Canada’s most renowned water bombers. This presentation will enlighten and entertain you while exploring the exciting world of aerial firefighting.

About the speaker
Ian Stevenson, a true veteran in the field, has been flying for over 34 years, with more than half of it dedicated to aerial firefighting. During that time, he has flown as a captain in both the aerial supervision role and as a tanker captain on the Canadair series aircraft. His extensive experience spans from Quebec to BC, from the NWT to Texas, and all places in between, flying fire missions over many different terrain and environments. Ian, originally from Ontario, currently resides in Airdrie, AB. He cherishes his time with his loving family, exploring the foothills west of Calgary and volunteering at The Hangar Flight Museum, where he shares his deep passion for flying.

This talk is included with general admission at The Hangar Flight Museum. Admission can be purchased online or at the door.
