Everybody opposing the regime automatically declared extremist: Exiled Belarusian opposition leader
Description
April 28, 2024
The federal government announced new sanctions on Belarusian officials who have been involved with human right violations since the country’s 2020 presidential election. This move comes after a United Nations report that says the number of political prisoners in Belarus has grown since the disputed election. ‘The West Block’ host Mercedes Stephenson sits down with Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya to talk about her life in exile, her jailed husband, and Russian President Vladimir Putin’s ties to the current Belarusian regime.
