Scott Roberts
Anchor
Scott Roberts is the co-anchor of Global Edmonton’s flagship newscast, Global News Hour at 6.
Scott is a multiple award-winning journalist, who joined Global News in August 2022. Prior to Global, he was co-anchor of CTV News at 6 in Vancouver, named Canada’s best local newscast three years in a row in 2020, 2021 and 2022 by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA).
A news veteran with more than 15 years of experience in broadcasting, Scott has traveled across the country to cover high-profile stories and uncover groundbreaking investigations.
In 2020, he was honoured with two Edward R. Murrow Awards for his reporting and a national RTDNA Award. He was also a lead member of the team recognized with a Murrow Award in 2020 for Best Continuing Coverage of the B.C. legislature spending scandal and is a five-time Jack Webster Award nominee, and one-time winner, as part of the news team that investigated the murder of 17-year-old Serena Vermeersch, uncovering information that her killer should never have been released from jail.
In 2015, after anchoring a weekend newscast, he rushed to Tofino when a whale watching vessel capsized, killing six people, mostly U.K. tourists. He spent days covering the story, including live reports for ITV’s Good Morning Britain. It earned him the RTDNA Award for Best Breaking News.
Scott has covered politics extensively throughout his career, with a focus on the Alberta legislature and city hall during his time in Edmonton as a reporter and anchor from 2007 to 2012.
An honours graduate of Toronto Metropolitan University’s School of Journalism (formerly Ryerson University), Scott’s professional life began as a print journalist at the Toronto Star and The Globe and Mail covering high profile stories like the Toronto 17 terrorism investigation, and the Air France crash at Pearson International Airport.
Born and raised in Dresden, Ont., Scott grew up in a horse racing community and still enjoys watching the sport. He is excited to be back Edmonton where he can golf until 10:30 p.m. in the summer, immerse himself in community events, taste his way through the city’s craft breweries and attempt to convert from a Leaf’s fan to an Oilers fan.
