Rob Malcolm

Born in Manchester, England, Rob grew up in Calgary, then left home after high school to play football, attending Gavilan College in Gilroy, California. After two years studying business and liberal arts, Rob transferred to California State University, Hayward, before signing a contract with the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger Cats.

When an injury cut his football career short, Rob focused on his education and obtained a BA in political science from Concordia University in Montreal.

It wasn’t long before Rob returned to Calgary and began a career at A-Channel as a sports anchor and reporter. After two years, he moved east with CKVR Barrie. Following a short stay in Ontario, Rob moved to NBC Detroit where he got involved in the action by practising on the field with the Detroit Lions, strapping on skates alongside an Olympic speed skater and taking a daring ride down an Olympic bob sled hill.

Rob left sports reporting to work as a news reporter and anchor with Fox 5 in New York, New York, where he covered flight 1549 “The Miracle on the Hudson,” the 2008 presidential campaign and the inauguration of Barack Obama in 2009.

In his spare time, Rob weight trains and plays basketball, football, golf and the alto sax, while still finding time to work on his scuba certification.
