The Ontario Liberal government is increasing funding for a wide range of pocketbook issues in its first balanced budget in close to a decade, as Premier Kathleen Wynne attempts to entice voters ahead of an upcoming provincial election.

A southwestern Ontario community is dealing with what its public health officials call an "opioid problem" that has left them scrambling to figure out the extent of the issue and what can be done to solve it.

It will cost the Ontario government an extra $100 million dollars to backtrack on a budget promise that would have increased drug costs for most seniors.
