Winter weather hits Southern Sask.

REGINA – Well the first real blast of winter has finally hit Saskatchewan.

Snow and sleet has hit the southern part of the province and Environment Canada is saying that Regina will see snow mixed with freezing drizzle throughout Monday morning with wind gusts up to 70 km/h.

Police in Regina have also responded to 22 accidents in the city on Monday morning.

According to the Saskatchewan Highway Hotline winter driving conditions exist around the Regina area.

The central part of the province is getting hammered a bit harder, with some areas already seeing as much as 10-15 cm of snow fall; Saskatoon already has 6 cm of the white stuff on the ground.

Emergency personnel remind drivers to slow down and to keep windows free of ice and snow.
