Mayor Rob Ford news on Friday

Vlog: Jennifer Tryon reports from Rob Ford’s mother’s home

TORONTO – Mayor Rob Ford has said he won’t resign but little else in response to revelations regarding a video of him purportedly smoking what could be crack cocaine.

The mayor’s black Cadillac Escalade was seen Friday morning parked outside of his mother’s Etobicoke home, and more cars pulled up to the house early Friday afternoon. Ford drove off in the car around 12:30p.m.

Ford then stopped at the nearby Royal York Bakery and Deli:

At approximately 2 p.m he was seen with Toronto Community Housing CEO Gene Jones at 2 Armel Court.

Ford’s friend and occasional driver Alexander “Sandro” Lisi was released on $5000 bail after he was charged with extortion on Friday morning.

Neither Mayor Rob Ford or his brother, Councillor Doug Ford, arrived at city hall Friday.

Doug Ford, who in the past has chastised councillors for missing meetings, was absent from a budget committee meeting at city hall.

But Doug did call talk radio station AM640 to defend his brother, telling the hosts that the mayor “hasn’t been charged with anything.”

“He hasn’t broken a law and he’s being convicted, he’s being convicted by the media. That’s not too hard to see,” he said.

The Mayor has denied using or being addicted to crack cocaine. On his radio show in May, he said “there is no video.” He wouldn’t comment on it Thursday while speaking to reporters after Blair announced he too had seen the video and confirmed it’s of the Mayor.

Ford’s lawyer Dennis Morris did address it, calling on police Chief Bill Blair to release the alleged video in a radio interview on the same station Friday morning.

“I’m saying when it’s seen publically, there won’t be a case against Mr. Ford,” Morris said. “I challenge anyone to indicate that whatever they see, and he said this from day one, he does not smoke crack cocaine and there’s no video showing him smoking crack cocaine.”
