Craig Snodgrass elected mayor of High River

HIGH RIVER, Alta.- After a tumultuous few months in the aftermath of June’s devastating flood, the embattled town of High River is ready to move forward with a new town council.

Craig Snodgrass, a local businessman, was elected mayor on Monday. He defeated town councillor Jamie Kinghorn, who was serving on town council.

The mayor’s chair was vacated, after Emile Blokland decided to step down.

“The last three months have been very challenging for all the residents of High River, and myself personally as well,” he told Global News back in September. “When you make a decision to serve your community either as mayor or councillor, you need to balance your life and I have chosen to take a step back and run for council to still be a part of the rebuilding process if the community is willing to have me there for the next four years.”

  • Dragan Brankovich (1438)
