In that protest, RCMP cars have been torched and 40 protesters were arrested Thursday when police moved in to end a blockade.

Grand Chief Stewart Phillip told the Vancouver group that protesters in B.C. can expect the same kind of response from police in this province.

First Nations communities held similar rallies across the country, saying it’s their duty to speak out against shale developments.
