Freeman-on-the-Land tenant charged by province

CALGARY- The Freeman-on-the-Land follower at the centre of a tenant dispute is not only being evicted, but also faces charges.

Andreas Pirelli came under fire, after staking a claim on the Parkdale duplex he was renting, and refusing to leave.

Now, the province has charged him with being an unlicensed contractor, following an undercover sting by Service Alberta.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

On August 20, they set up at a home in Calgary, asking contractors to give quotes for work and sign contracts. Pirelli was one of them, and soon after he was charged with entering into a pre-paid contract without the proper provincial license.

He is also being investigated for alleged violations as a tenant, in connection with the rental dispute. He changed the locks on the rental, and also put a lien on the house totalling $17,000.
