Saskatoon one of Canada’s most well-read cities

SASKATOON – Saskatoon is one of the most well-read cities in Canada, according to Amazon.ca

The online book seller released their first-ever list of the Top 20 Most Well-Read Cities in Canada.

The list was compiled by comparing Amazon.ca sales data for books and e-books purchased in the past year on a per-capita basis, looking at cities with more than 100,000 residents.

Saskatonians top the list in showing their Canadian pride by buying the most novels written by Canadian authors.

Saskatoon residents’ favourite Canadian novel was 419: A Novel by Will Ferguson. Ferguson’s novel was also recognized by Amazon.ca Book editors as one of the Best Books of the Year in 2012.

Saskatonians also downloaded the most Kindle books, with the most popular title being romance novel Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks.

Vancouver and Calgary placed first and second respectively, while Regina was fifth. Toronto came in at seventh, and Montreal failed to make the top 20.
