TORONTO – Residents affected by Monday’s flash flood will be able to throw out their damaged items this Saturday as the city announced it will be collecting them from the curb.

The flood-related waste will be picked up starting on Saturday and continue Sunday and into Monday if necessary.

But before you throw the garbage out, the city is reminding residents to check with your insurance company because they may need to see your items to qualify for reimbursement.

· Do not set out any construction/renovation waste (i.e. drywall or wood) or Household Hazardous Waste (i.e. paint cans or fluorescent lighting tubes/bulbs). These items will not be collected. Household Hazardous Waste requires a special pick-up by calling 311.

· Put spoiled food items in your Green Bin for pick-up on your regular collection day.
