ATHENS – Police in Athens say a bomb has exploded under a senior Greek prison official’s parked car, breaking windows in surrounding buildings and lightly injuring one woman.
Police say the blast early Friday followed a warning call.
There has been no claim of responsibility for the explosion, which targeted a car belonging to the governor of the maximum security Korydallos
Prison in western Athens. The vehicle was badly damaged, while a woman suffered minor cuts from broken glass.
Investigators are examining whether the attack was politically motivated or linked to organized crime.
Greece has seen a spate of small bomb explosions in recent years, mostly targeting symbols of wealth and state authority and claimed by militant anarchist groups. Severe injuries are rare.
