TORONTO — A man posing as pop music phenom PSY got VIP treatment during the Cannes Film Festival this week — scoring free drinks at exclusive parties and posing for pictures with stars.
“Seems like there’s another ME at cannes,” the real PSY tweeted on Wednesday. “Say Hi to him.”
On Tuesday, British actress Naomie Harris tweeted a photo of herself posing with the Psy-wannabe at the Chopard party in Cannes.
But, on Thursday, she tweeted: “It looks as if we’ve been fooled, that wasn’t the real @psy_oppa! Could anyone else tell from the picture? Or am I just going crazy!? Haha!”
The actual “Gangnam Style” performer, who appeared Sunday on the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas, is currently in Singapore.
The PSY impersonator was escorted into parties by three men posing as bodyguards and even demonstrated the pop star’s signature dance moves in a video for a French radio station.
The prankster has not yet been identified.
