Reaction to Boston Marathon explosions spread quickly on social media

TORONTO – News of two explosions at the finish line of the Boston Marathon spread quickly on social media.

Competitors and race volunteers were crying as they fled the chaos. A number of images taken by news media and the crowd at the race were filtered through various social media streams.

Police say three were killed and more than 130 others were injured during the blasts.

Many expressed their shock and sadness of the tragic event. Some offered prayers for those caught in the explosion.
