Police launch road safety blitz

TORONTO – Police will be out in full force in Scarborough Thursday conducting a road safety blitz.

Officers will be targeting speeders, drivers with suspended licenses, commercial-vehicle violations, and others in the Kingston Road and Beechgrove Drive area beginning at 6 a.m.

Traffic Services said the area has a high number of vehicles travelling above the posted speed limit.

A recent Traffic Engineering study found 85 per cent of vehicles travelled between 20 and 30 km/h over the posted 60 km/h speed limit.
