One person dead following pickup truck crash near Simcoe

One person is dead following a single vehicle crash near Simcoe, Ont.

Norfolk County Fire and Rescue Services responded to the scene at approximately 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning at an address on Charlotteville West Quarter Line Road.

An investigation has determined that a pickup truck was travelling northbound when it left the roadway.

OPP believe the vehicle veered into a ditch on the west side of the road before colliding with a tree and catching fire.

After extinguishing the fire, rescue workers discovered a deceased person inside.

The identity of the deceased has yet to be released, as police are waiting until next of kin are notified.

OPP are advising that Charlotteville West Quarter Line Road will be closed until Saturday afternoon between McDowell Road East and Charlotteville Road 11 as the investigation continues.

Police are continuing to investigate and are seeking the public’s assistance. If anyone has any information, they are being asked to contact the Norfolk County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.
