La Ronge RCMP are encouraging parents to speak with their children about safety following an attempted child luring in the northern Saskatchewan community.
Police said it happened late Thursday afternoon on Studer Street when a 10-year-old child was approached by a man.

The man allegedly made threats in an attempt to lure the child into his vehicle.
The child ran away and the man drove off in an older model light-blue Ford half-ton truck with an Alberta licence plate.
Police say the man is Aboriginal, in his 30s, dark hair with a short buzz cut, dark eyes. He was wearing a black muscle shirt, black shorts, and running shoes, and had sunglasses on his head.
He has a number of tattoos including a tear-drop on his left eye and a skull on his left arm.
The truck has rust around the wheels and possibly a broken passenger-side window with tape and plastic over it.

RCMP said the investigation is ongoing and patrols have been increased at time when children are active in the community.
Parents are being encouraged to speak to their children about safety precautions they should be taking:
- be aware of surroundings and note suspicious people or vehicles and report them promptly to teachers, parents or other trusted adults;
- listen to earbuds through one ear only, so you can hear traffic, people, dogs or any other potential hazards;
- do not approach a vehicle if you don’t know the person inside;
- do not talk to strangers;
- have a friend walk with you if possible; and
- stick to sidewalks along busy streets as opposed to cutting through alleys or parks.
