RCMP are investigating after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 10 near Melville took the lives of three people.

Melville emergency crews responded to a head-on collision on Highway 10, just north of Brewer Road, around 10:50 p.m. Saturday.

The 24-year-old male driver of the southbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 25-year-old female driver of the northbound vehicle was also pronounced dead at the scene. Three young children in the same vehicle were transported to hospital with serious injuries.

One of the passengers, a six-month old boy, later died in hospital.

The two other occupants of the northbound vehicle, a seven-year-old girl and a four-year-old boy, remain in hospital with serious injuries.

RCMP will not be releasing the names of the deceased or the relationship of the occupants in the vehicle. Next of kin have been notified.

There is no word on the cause of the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
