A hydro pole in London’s east end, splintered by a fire truck responding to an emergency call, serves as a reminder for drivers to be mindful of pavement markings at intersections.
The fire engine was making a right hand turn from Florence Street onto Egerton Street shortly before noon on Tuesday.
In an effort to avoid a southbound vehicle stopped at the intersection on a piece of pavement marked with a large X, the fire truck tightened it’s turn and clipped it’s right side on the pole.
Hydro crews arrived on scene shortly afterwards to reinforce the still-standing pole, while the truck had minor damage and a flat tire.
No one was injured in the incident.
