HALIFAX – A Halifax pedestrian was struck by a vehicle today as she attempted to traverse a busy street using a marked crosswalk.
Halifax police say that the 23-year-old woman was going across the crossing on Main Street near the intersection of Caledonia Road, in Dartmouth.
She suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Investigators a 76-year-old driver struck the woman after turning from Caledonia Road into the busy street.
The driver was issued a summary offence ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
Police say in a news release that it’s important pedestrians make eye contact with drivers and wait until vehicles come to a complete stop before attempting to cross the road at marked crosswalks.
