WINNIPEG — As a rookie, Patrik Laine is learning about life in the NHL. At the same time though, the Winnipeg Jets forward is teaching his teammates.
“I think guys can look at how he shoots the puck and try to take some things from that,” said Jets captain Blake Wheeler.

It certainly wouldn’t hurt. Laine is leading all Jets in goals with 18 in 34 games.
“He’s been everything and more you can expect from an 18-year-old,” said Wheeler.
A remarkable player and one his coach says is a mature one as well. The team has taken notes on how Laine handles himself in the spotlight.
“He’s a very bright young man,” said Jets head coach Paul Maurice. “He’s been humble. I think he’s honest.”
It’s not just inside the rink though Laine’s lessons are limited to. He’s taught a few players about the culture and traditions of his homeland of Finland. Plus there’s another one of his passions which he’s apparently schooling everyone in.
“I haven’t played video games with him but I hear he’s pretty good at those,” said Wheeler.

But Laine says both off and on the ice, he still needs a little help.
“I think these guys are giving me more advice than I’m giving them,” said Laine. “I think I’m learning everyday.”
After all, a good teacher never stops being a student.
