The province’s Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) has launched an investigation after the driver of a vehicle crashed into a pole on North West Arm Dr. early Sunday following a police chase.
Shortly before 4 a.m., Halifax Regional Police witnessed what appeared to be two cars racing along North West Arm Dr., SiRT said. Officers were able to stop one of the vehicles, a truck, and found out that the other vehicle, a car, had earlier collided with the truck.
When officers attempted to stop the car, it sped off and was found a short time later crashed into a pole on Osborne Avenue.
The male driver of the car was arrested and is currently under investigation for impaired driving and flight from police. Two male passengers were taken to hospital, one of which has a broken collarbone.
As a result of that injury, SiRT was contacted by regional police. SiRT is now investigating the circumstances surrounding the attempt to stop the car.
