Officers were called to the 100 block of Coral Springs Close N.E. at around 4:30 p.m. by a 10-year-old girl.
“Police made entry into that home and found a male actively stabbing a female,” acting Staff Sgt. Travis Juska said on Thursday. “There was a young child present at the time.”
The victim was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition with significant injuries. Police said Friday that the woman’s condition had since been upgraded to serious but stable.
The victim’s daughter, who had witnessed the attack, wasn’t injured.
Investigators took one man into custody without incident.
Police said the victim and the suspect are known to each other.
“The attack is not believed to be domestic in nature but the suspect’s motivation for the attack is still unknown.”
Nurdin Allaudin Dossa is charged with one count of aggravated assault. He is next scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
