The new Evergreen SkyTrain line will open to the public on Dec. 2.

It has not yet been announced what time the trains will start to run on Dec. 2 however, so it may not be open for the morning rush. That announcement will be made closer to the opening day.

It’s expected that by 2021, this new line will carry about 70,000 passengers a day.

TransLink had only said previously it expects the line to be running before Christmas. In early October, Port Moody Mayor Mike Clay said the Evergreen Line would open Nov. 20, however he later said he was “joking” about that date.

The $1.4 billion line that runs 11 kilometres between Burnaby and Coquitlam was originally supposed to begin carrying passengers in 2014. However, a series of construction problems forced the opening date to be pushed back.

The Millennium Line will no longer run to Waterfront Station, it will take you from VCC-Clark to Lougheed Town Centre and will continue onto the Evergreen Line extension when it opens.

The Expo Line will now have two routes, one travelling between Waterfront and King George stations and a second between Waterfront and Production Way-University station.
