A Shuswap woman was rushed to hospital after a morning crash on the Trans Canada Highway between Salmon Arm and Canoe.
The accident happened just after 9 a.m. when the woman attempted to make a u-turn on the highway and was hit by an oncoming semi truck.
Her car flipped into the ditch and landed on its roof. The semi also rolled into the ditch and over an embankment.
“The semi truck driver was shaken up but uninjured,” said S/Sgt Scott West. “The female driver of the passenger vehicle (a local
resident) was taken to Shuswap Lakes General Hospital by ambulance with non life threatening injuries.”
The crash closed the highway for a short period of time but it is now reopen.
Crews will be working to recover the semi truck throughout the day, which may cause some traffic delays along that portion of the highway.
