WINNIPEG — Winnipeg Police Service, Fire, and Hazmat were all on the scene at the 400-block of Robertson Street Saturday afternoon.

Winnipeg Police Service said it happened around 1:40 p.m. Saturday. At one point Winnipeg Fire Department, Winnipeg Police, and Hazmat were all on scene. Hazmat has since left, and the Bomb Unit is investigating.

The home that is claiming to have the suspicious package on its property is located at the corner of Robertson street near Churchill avenue.

Winnipeg Fire Department’s District Chief Donenns said emergency personnel were called by the owner of a home who said the package appeared overnight and was not there Friday.

“Our job is to first of all establish a safe zone to make sure everybody in the city is protected as best as possible,” said District Chief Donenns.
