Man charged with first-degree murder after downtown Toronto hit-and-run

Police have arrested a man wanted in connection with the death of a 27-year-old man who died after a hit-and-run in downtown Toronto.

A man, who has been identified as Steven Doyle, was struck by a blue Dodge Caravan travelling north on George Street near Gerrard Street East before 6 p.m. on Aug. 15.

Police said the vehicle left the area and was found several blocks away.

Doyle was pronounced dead at the scene.

During a press conference two days later, the homicide unit released surveillance video of a man who was seen wiping fingerprints from a vehicle.

Ayubullo Mohammad-Daud, 21, of no fixed address has been charged with first-degree murder.

He was scheduled to appear in a Toronto court on Wednesday.
