WINNIPEG — Artistic gymnast Isabela Onyshko returned home from her first Olympics on Friday to a group of young supporters.

The 18-year-old was mobbed by the crowd just moments after landing at Winnipeg’s James Armstrong Richardson International Airport. The majority of those waiting to greet Onyshko were from her hometown gymnastics club, the Brandon Eagles.

Onyshko placed 8th in the women’s beam and 18th in the individual all-around events at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

She was joined in Brazil by coach Lorie Henderson who was also making her Games debut. Henderson runs the Brandon Eagles Gymnastics club.
