Saskatchewan RCMP have charged two people after an incident of alleged animal cruelty that occurred at Craven Country Jamboree on Saturday.
Police located the kitten shortly after receiving the complaint of the animal being abused at a campsite.
The kitten was taken to TM’z Veterinary Clinic in Lumsden, Sask. for treatment.
“Very saddened from some events at the Craven Country Jamboree,” said Dr. Tanya Marshall via a Facebook post.
“We had the RCMP rush us a little kitten with burns on her body. The kitten had wandered onto the grounds and drunken individuals were drenching it in alcohol and then lighting it on fire. Animal cruelty to appease their drunk state should never be tolerated. Our team at TM’z are shaken by these events.”

The feline suffered minor injuries, according to festival officials.
On July 17, the RCMP said a man was being investigated under the Criminal Code and the Animal Protection Act. He was evicted from the campgrounds.
Then on Monday, the RCMP said they had charged one adult man and one male youth for causing distress to an animal. The definition of the offence includes causing injury.
Both are scheduled to appear in Regina court on Sept. 19. Police are not releasing their names.
Craven Country Jamboree officials announced on Sunday they were saddened by the incident and praised the RCMP for acting quickly to remove the man from the site.
“While we are shocked that one of our patrons would participate in such a disgusting act, we are positive this is a singular incident and we are confident that we have handled the situation in the best possible way,” said Kim Blevins, the festival’s director of marketing.
“We do not condone violence of any type and we will do everything we can to assist the RCMP in their investigation.”
Depending on the results of the police investigation, Blevins said the festival will consider its own reprimands which may include a lifetime ban for any individuals involved.
A senior member of festival staff has offered to adopt the cat which has been named “Jamboree.”
