Saskatoon police deal with 4 weapons calls in 24-hour period

Police say six people are facing charges after officers dealt with four weapons calls in Saskatoon over a 24-hour period.

The first happened at around 7 a.m. CT on Tuesday when officers were called to a home in the 100-block of Avenue P South.

Three people living there said they had been threatened by two people who had entered the home.

They were armed with a knife.

Officers located two suspects a short time later.

A 25-year-old woman is facing charges of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, carrying a concealed weapon and breach of an undertaking.

A man is charged with breach of probation.

Then at around 12:40 p.m. police were called to the 600-block of Avenue I South where a man and woman said they returned home to find a man inside their house.

He swung a machete at them when they asked him to leave, striking the man and leaving him with non-life threatening injuries before fleeing the house

A 29-year-old man has been identified as the suspect and is facing charges of unlawful confinement, aggravated assault and assault causing bodily harm.

Officers were then called out to the 2400-block of 22nd Street West at around 4 p.m. for reports of a fight between two men, one armed with a knife, the other a bat.

A 32-year-old man was arrested and is charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and breach of probation.

No injuries were reported.

The final weapon call came in at around 3 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

A woman said she had been threatened by a youth armed with a machete in the 300-block of Avenue T South.

She was not injured.

Two youth were arrested at a nearby residence.

A 14-year-old girl is charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and a 15-year-old boy is facing a breach of an undertaking charge.
