Safeway stores across Saskatchewan could be hit with a strike/lockout as early as Wednesday morning.
The Retail Wholesale and Department Store Union said 1,200 unionized employees are affected at 12 stores across the province.

They gave 48-hour notice on Monday, but are not saying if those workers will walk off the job or take job action such as refusing to wear their uniforms.
Sobeys, which owns Safeway, has reportedly issued a 48-hour lockout notice in response to the union’s move, but calls to Sobeys were not returned.

The labour unrest would not affect workers at Sobeys stores across Saskatchewan.
The union’s last contract with Safeway expired in June 21, 2014.
