Police say a cougar that attacked a woman inside her Trail home over the weekend was desperate for food.
Sergeant Rob Hawton of the Trail RCMP says the animal strolled through an open door Saturday night and attacked a woman who was sitting on her sofa.

He says the woman and her dog fought off the animal, which was tracked down and destroyed yesterday morning.
Hawton says the woman suffered some minor injuries to her upper leg from the cougar’s claws.
